13-14 Months

Dear Little Spoon,

You have grown so much since your first birthday. Each week more of your personality shines through and you keep mommy and daddy smiling, laughing, and so proud to be your parents. These are a few things I adore about you this month.

You love mama's homemade pancakes. I have been making banana chocolate pancakes with frosting (all CLEAN of course) and they seem to be your favorite. Breakfast is your biggest meal and you eat so much to fuel your day. Normally you will eat some fruit, a bowl of oatmeal, some waffles or your pancakes. You love bananas. You say 'nana' and it's so cute. You know where we keep the bananas and have walked to the counter where they are and tried to climb up to get one. On this day you were sad you could not reach them. You are most certainly my little monkey!

Finally a veggie you like...corn! You do like corn but only if you can eat it on the cob with the corn cob holders on. It's adorable to watch you eat this way.

I usually attempt to drink a green smoothie each afternoon and you love to share it with me. You let me have a sip and then you have a sip. We continue on like this for awhile and then you let me have the rest of it. Since you are on a milk strike lately and won't drink any milk, I am putting milk in your smoothie. Thanks for the creative challenge baby.

You love to be outside. When I ask the dogs if they need to go outside or go potty sometimes you are  first to the back door looking at me to let you out. You like to collet rocks and carry them around. You sit and play and look around. We have several lizards that run around our patio and you point and talk to them. Daddy spends a lot of time outdoors and I think you will follow him around out there when you are a bit older.

This is your favorite blanket. It's so soft and you snuggle with it at nap time and at night. You have snuggled it since you were 6 months old and I love how much you hug and smile when you hold it. Your GiGi got it here. She found a great deal, as usual, and you are hooked on these Tourance Blankets.

You adore the water. We have gone swimming several times this summer and each time you have a grin on your face the entire time we play in the water. You are starting to put your face in the water either to taste it or see what it is. You laugh after you do this.
Grandma and I took you to a water park and you loved the fountains. Now that you are walking it was fun for you to walk up to the water. You had so much fun with Grandma and you love her so much.

The days have been so hot here so sometimes we play in the backyard in your kid pool. You also really like the water table that we got you for your birthday. Summer fun!

Your first word was dog so it's no surprise that you love our dogs. You really like to sit right up against the dog and lay back and smile. You are a snuggler for sure! Sadie doesn't mind you climbing over her, on her or sitting on her but Turk really doesn't care for it. He let's you sit up against him while you play.

A few other things about you this month:

  • You love to read (look at books) in the car. You study them and really are focused. You even turn them right side up if I hand it to you upside down. I am impressed you already know the way things go!
  • You have done this for awhile but when I dress you after the bath and you have a toothbrush in one hand you understand when I say switch hands so that I can pull your arm through the arm hole. This is simple but I like that you understand this and help mama.
  • You love animals, maybe more than anyone I know. Wait, that's incorrect..your Dad loves animals and this must be where you get it from. Your favorite books are the ones with animals and you adore the zoo.
  • You have learned how to manipulate me to extending your bedtime by giving me hugs when I announce it's bedtime. Most of the time I let you stay up longer because I really appreciate those hugs and you letting me hold you close before you go to sleep. Each time you try to wiggle or get out of your bedroom chair we sit in I tell you "Ok, it's bedtime." You immediately stop and give me hugs or lean back to lay against me. Yes, you do know how to tug on my heartstrings.
  • You took your first steps on your actual birthday, took a few more at your birthday party and started standing and walking from mommy to daddy three days after your party. You never crawl and are a walker working on running now!
  • You have 6 teeth (front two, one on each side of the front teeth, and two bottom teeth)
                                I love you so much.

Love,
 Mama
