15-18 Months

Dear Little Spoon,
You are not so little anymore. I was looking at photos of you from last fall and you were my chunky monkey for sure! At this time last year you were 20lbs and were mastering sitting up!! As of now you are 24lbs and running around with a big grin on your face. You sure grew fast those first few months. You are wearing 18-24 month clothes. Some 2T as well and a size 6 shoe. We downsized your diapers to a size 4 from a 5. You have thinned out so we had to get a diaper that fit your waistline better. Mama really loves to buy you shoes. Whenever a new pair appear in your closet you can spot them instantly and you bring them to me for you to try on. Currently, these are my favorite pair on you...

TALKING:
Your vocabulary is growing by the day! You are very good at attempting to repeat words you hear. You love to repeat the grocery list when I tell you what we need at the store. You definitely understand quite a bit and are starting to ignore mommy when I am telling you not to do something. You say the following words very clearly: dog (daaaawwggg), mommy, daddy, mima, gigi, pop, nana, boobie, nose, up, me, Zo-Zo, good girl (gooo girl). You call water wawa. You say mooow for more. You know a ton of animal sounds that you practice not only at home but in stores whenever you spot any animal you recognize. It's quite funny to see how excited you get to point to the animal (stuffed or real) and recite its sound. You love to wave at dogs, people and cars that zoom by. It is really cute to see how you can bring a smile to a strangers face instantly by your pretty smile and wave.

FOOD:
You are still a picky eater when it comes to new foods. You still don't eat any meat, spaghetti noodles freak you out, you no longer like carrots, and we still can't give you milk without a reaction. I am not sure if you have a reaction to milk or if its allergies or teething that happen at the same time that is the cause. It's something we are still figuring out. You do eat sweet potato chip (homemade), salt and vinegar chips (Daddy started you on this), Cheetos (again Daddy), waffles, yogurt, pancakes, oatmeal, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, any fruit, pizza (cold only), quesadillas, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, goldfish, cereal (love raisin bran with almond milk), dried peas, dried corn, dried apple, and any new crunchy snacks I can find. You do love anything I bake for you. You love baked oatmeal and mini muffins that of course are filled with veggies! It makes me really happy that you love my baking. You are a snack swiper. We go to the library once a week for toddler story time and if you spot a sippy cup or snack container you kindly make your way over to it and try to get it. You flash them a smile, a quick sweet wave with a little "hiii" and then try to take the snack. Quite comical to watch.

HOBBIES:
You use to like collecting rocks but now you prefer to get in the car when we go outside and play with all the radio buttons and seats. When you want to go outside to "drive the car" you tell us "beep beep". Each time you are outside and see a cactus you wave your finger at the cactus and say "no no" and then you grab your wrist and say "owww" because you know the cactus can hurt you. It's very cute to see. You still love your books and love to look at them. You now read in the car and then want to take the book into the store with us. Your favorite books are the pop up animal books. You will look at the same three books over and over all day. You are really close to Sadie, one of our dogs. The other day you were climbing on the couch ( a new trick you have about mastered) and you were falling off. Sadie was beside you and she put her head under your butt and nudged you up on the couch. It was AMAZING to see this and so remarkable how much that dog loves you. Daddy saw her help you again the other night. Very cool. You have just started to take a liking towards the only baby doll we have. You like to hug baby, try to give her food and drink, brush her teeth, and tonight you tried to give her a bath. The other night I caught you on the couch rocking your baby and singing to her like I do to you. THIS was an epic mommy heart melting moment. You are beginning to play pretend with little figurines and the baby doll making them talk to each other and you talking to them.

RANDOMS:
We just transitioned you to one nap a day (@17  months old)  because you weren't going to bed until 11pm with two naps a day. Turns out this is just what you needed! Now Mommy is getting use to this new schedule because some days you nap for 1 hour and some days 3 hours. You go to bed about 7pm and sleep until 7am.

You have cut 4 molars in 6 weeks and now we are discovering your incisors are starting to give you pain. Yikes kiddo, you never get a break! The top molars were very painful for you and I have never seen you go from happy to mad and full on tears in a matter of minutes. The bottom ones made you grumpy but not to the extent that the tops ones did.  You now have a total of 12 teeth, 12 beautiful teeth! You do have wonderful straight teeth and I am thankful for them everyday!

How can I fit in the box and reach my snacks?!

I love you so much! Thank you for coming into our lives and showing us what life is really about. I am grateful for the love you show me. You have a special way of flashing me a smile while we are driving or asking to hold my hand when I am having a rough day. How do you know this is just what Mommy needs to feel better? You can instantly turn my darkest days around with your loving snuggles and happy attitude. I love that you are my daughter my dear.

Love,
 Mama
